Biological data are stored in databases. Taking into consideration the number of research groups studying, proteins sometimes have different names in different sources. Experienced bioinformaticians have to find proper information using different bases. For example, in a 'FlyBase' database you will find all available information about Drosophila genes. To simplify the process of data manipulation, each gene has a unique ID number in a base. Match protein name and ID in a database for each gene! Be careful, some of the proteins have more than one name!
