When would we need to specify arguments when calling the super() method?

When we have a hierarchy of classes.

Never if we use Python 3.X. In Python 3.X specifying the arguments doesn't affect anything.

If we use Python 2.X.

When we want to access a method in the 'grandparent' of the current class rather than in its 'parent'.
