I’m Mihaela, a frontend developer currently working in Berlin. I originally studied civil procedure law, but a few years ago, I made the leap into tech. I completed a fullstack bootcamp, worked at a fintech startup, and now I’m continuing to grow both on the job and through platforms like Hyperskill. I’ve been learning programming seriously for about two years now, and it’s been a life-changing journey.
I was drawn to programming because I love building things that solve real problems. After moving to Germany and becoming a mother of two, I wanted a career that was both intellectually fulfilling and flexible. I had zero tech background, and at first, everything felt overwhelming: debugging errors, understanding how systems work together, or even figuring out where to start.
Before Hyperskill, I relied on tutorials and documentation, but it often felt fragmented. I craved structure and hands-on projects that mirrored real-world challenges. I kept going because I believed in my ability to learn and was determined to create a better future for myself and my family.
I chose Hyperskill because their learning philosophy deeply resonated with me. It’s not just about consuming content, it’s about applying knowledge in meaningful ways. The project-based approach, immediate feedback, and gradual increase in difficulty make it perfect for learners who want more than just theory.
As a mom balancing work, family, and constant learning, I also appreciated Hyperskill’s flexibility. You can learn at your own pace without compromising on depth. That structure helped me stay motivated, and the focus on building a real portfolio gave me the confidence to transition into a tech role.
Balancing motherhood, work, and tech learning isn’t easy. There were many late nights and early mornings, and moments of doubt too. My strategy was to set small, achievable goals each week and celebrate each bit of progress. I also created a dedicated learning window during the week when the kids were in school or asleep. My tip for others: don’t wait for a perfect moment. Just start, and stay consistent, even in small doses.
If you’re just starting with Hyperskill, trust the process. Don’t rush through tasks just to finish; pause, reflect, and understand why things work. And don’t be afraid to ask questions or revisit topics. Hyperskill’s structure is designed to guide you, not overwhelm you.
If I could go back to day one, I’d tell myself: “You belong here. You’re not behind. Just keep showing up.” Every bug, every tiny win, and every ‘aha’ moment is part of the journey.
